Short description of activities of bureau
 
Methodology of bureau is of four types
 
Trap cases
  • In such cases no action is taken against complainant giving bribe when trap is organized to catch public servant red handed.
  • Trap is laid based on complaint of complainant.
  • Planning is carried out in accordance with complaint with Government witness.
  • Phenolphthalein powder is used in laying trap.
  • The whole procedure up to arrest of culprit is kept secret.
  • Electronic devises such as voice recorder and transmitter is also used in modus operandi of laying trap.
  • Charge sheet is filed after analyzing documentation, scientific and circumstantial evidences.
Decoy Case
  • Watch is kept on corruption sensitive areas.
  • Laymen are sent after briefing by bureau in such sensitive areas.
  • Phenolphthalein powder is used for laying trap.
  • The whole procedure is kept secret up to arrest of culprit
  • Charge sheet is fled after analyzing documentation, scientific and circumstantial evidences.
Cases Against possession of disproportionate asset
  • Secret investigation is carried out against government servant or his dependant in cases of disproportionate assets.
  • Investigation period is determined in reference to property purchased by accused.
  • Accused shall inform government agencies regarding his known sources of income such as agriculture, gifts or ancestral property as per rules applicable to government servants discipline and conduct.
  • The property of accused shall not exceed the amount arrived after deducting expenses from his income from known sources.
  • Property of accused is evaluated by government appointed valuator thus proof regarding value of property is collected.
Investigation in cases of bribe and disproportionate income
  • Bureau carries out investigation in complaints containing specific name.
  • Bureau carry out open or discrete investigation as per requirement on complaint received.
  • Investigation as per Prevention of corruption act, 1988 is carried out in cases where assets of officer are found disproportionate to its known source of income.
